Why is it smart to update gate or entrance codes after staff changes or moves?

Over time, more people than you realise might know your building or gate code – old house help, delivery people, temporary workers, even guests. When someone who had regular access is no longer associated with your home, it’s good practice to change the code.

It’s not about assuming bad intentions. It’s about controlling how widely that key information is spread. People can share codes casually without meaning harm, or notes can be left lying around.

By updating codes after staff changes, big moves, or every so often as a routine, you keep control of who can enter the compound or main gate. This is especially important in shared buildings or communities where many homes depend on the same access point.

It’s the digital equivalent of changing a lock when a key goes missing.
