Why should you pay attention to how your roof looks after a hailstorm or very strong wind?

Severe weather can damage roofs even if you don’t see immediate leaks. Hail can bruise or crack shingles and tiles, loosen flashing, or dent metal. Strong wind can lift edges, move tiles slightly, or carry debris that hits the surface.

After such events, a visual check from the ground, or from safe nearby vantage points, helps you spot obvious issues: missing tiles, bent metal, displaced pieces. Even if everything looks okay from below, if your area had a heavy storm, it may be worth a closer inspection by a professional, especially if your roof is older.

If you ignore potential damage, small weaknesses might only show themselves months later as leaks or drafts. Addressing problems soon after the event often keeps costs and damage lower.
