Under sofas and beds is where all the quiet dirt goes to retire – dust, hair, crumbs, lost toys, sometimes even insects. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it isn’t affecting the room.
Dust build-up under big furniture can contribute to allergies and that slightly stale smell some spaces get. It also becomes a cosy hiding spot for spiders or other small pests if left undisturbed for long enough.
By moving furniture or using a long vacuum attachment a few times a year, you remove these hidden piles. It doesn’t have to be weekly, but putting it on a seasonal or twice-yearly list is wise.
You might also find things you thought were gone forever: missing socks, small items, kids’ bits. The room feels genuinely fresher afterward, not just clean on the surface.
