Why should you avoid leaving ladders or large tools outside in the yard?

Ladders, crowbars and certain tools are extremely useful for work – and unfortunately, also useful for someone trying to break in. Leaving them lying around in the yard or leaning against walls means any passer-by has instant access to equipment that helps them reach upper windows, pry open doors or climb over walls.

Even if your area feels safe, it’s better not to provide free “assistance”. Storing ladders in locked sheds, garages, or at least chained and out of obvious sight is a small effort with a clear benefit.

The same goes for heavy garden tools that can be used to break glass or force locks. Bringing them in or securing them after use keeps your home less vulnerable and your belongings safer too.
